US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday a 10-day suspension of plans to target energy facilities in Iran, following what he described as a request from Tehran.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that the pause will extend until April 6, 2026, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, noting, “Talks are ongoing and, despite erroneous statements to the contrary by the Fake News Media, and others, they are going very well.”
On March 23, Trump had delayed potential strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days after describing contacts with Iran as “good and productive.”
In response, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf rejected claims of negotiations with the United States as fake news aimed at manipulating financial and oil markets.
