Shafaq News/ The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Lebanon, and Oman condemned Iran’s missile strike on Qatar, urging restraint through diplomatic channels.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had announced on Monday a “powerful and destructive missile strike” on the US Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, in retaliation for what it described as an American “military assault on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities.”

The GCC called the attack a violation of Qatari sovereignty and a threat to the collective security of its member states. Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the strike as a “flagrant breach” and reaffirmed the Council’s unified position. “The security of the GCC is indivisible, and we stand united with Qatar against any threat to its safety,” he stated.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam issued a similar condemnation, affirming “full solidarity” with Qatar. “I pray for the safety of Qatar and its citizens,” he declared.

Oman’s Foreign Ministry further described the Iranian attack on Qatar as “unacceptable and condemned,” calling it a breach of Gulf sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.

“The expansion of this conflict serves only to deepen destruction and undermine the security of the region and its people,” the ministry's spokesperson warned, voicing support for Qatar’s right to take necessary measures to protect its national security.

Muscat, a mediator between the US and Iran in the recent talks, urged an immediate halt to all military operations and emphasized the need for diplomacy and international legal frameworks to resolve the conflict through peaceful and legitimate means.
