FC Barcelona sign Karim Adeyemi in $25M+ deal

FC Barcelona signed Germany forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on Thursday for a reported $25.1 million plus add-ons, securing the 24-year-old through June 2031.

Neither club disclosed the financial terms, but Spanish media reported that the bonuses could raise the deal by about $8 million, while Dortmund retained 20% of any profit from a future sale.

Adeyemi requested the transfer after rejecting a contract extension, with his Dortmund deal due to expire in 2027, the Bundesliga club confirmed.

The Munich-born forward scored 36 goals in 146 appearances during four seasons with Dortmund after joining from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022. He can operate on either wing or through the center and has previously recorded a Bundesliga speed of 36.65 kilometers per hour.

The move reunites Adeyemi with Barcelona coach Hansi Flick, who handed him his senior Germany debut in 2021. Adeyemi described Flick as an important factor in his decision and stated that he had joined Barcelona to compete for titles.

Adeyemi becomes Barcelona’s second attacking signing of the summer after Anthony Gordon.
