New aerial scenes highlight Babylon’s archaeological grandeur

Ancient Babylon has reappeared from above in a series of striking aerial shots, revealing a blend of enduring ruins and modern tourist activity that underscores the site’s timeless pull.
The images also captured a surge in tourism activity, with
large numbers of visitors touring the historic landmarks. These scenes
highlight Babil’s growing presence on the tourism map, underlining its cultural
value and the significant potential Al-Hillah holds for historical and cultural
tourism.
Babylon is considered one of the world’s most prominent archaeological cities, home to unique monuments that embody the grandeur of its ancient civilization. These include the famed Ishtar Gate, the Lion of Babylon, the Tower of Babil (the ziggurat), and the Hanging Gardens—widely regarded as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

In recent years, Iraqi authorities and UNESCO teams have carried out extensive stabilization and restoration work at Babylon after decades of neglect and damage, making the site more accessible to visitors and researchers.
The city remains a major cultural and historical center that
played a pivotal role in ancient history and in various religions. Its
inscription on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2019 further elevated its status
as one of the most significant archaeological sites regionally and globally.
