Iraq's national football team returned to Iraqi soil Friday through the Trebil border crossing in al-Anbar province, greeted by hundreds of supporters who carried players on their shoulders as they crossed from Jordan.

According to Shafaq News correspondent, the crowd had gathered at the Trebil gate despite a journey of several hours overland from the Jordanian capital Amman —the final leg of a trip that originated in Mexico, where the team competed as part of its World Cup qualification campaign.
