Shafaq News/ Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed on Sunday evening the killing of Brigadier General Mohammad Kazemi, the head of its Intelligence Organization, in an Israeli airstrike.

According to a statement published by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Kazemi was killed alongside two senior intelligence commanders, Hassan Mohaqqeq and Mohsen Baqeri, in what the IRGC described as a targeted Israeli strike on a residential area.

In direct response to the killings, the IRGC’s Aerospace Force launched a new wave of missile attacks targeting Israeli intelligence centers, as part of the ongoing True Promise 3 operation. “These focused and retaliatory operations will continue until the Zionist entity is eliminated,” the IRGC warned, adding that international supporters of Israel would also be held accountable if the escalation continues.

The statement framed the latest missile strikes as part of a broader phase in Iran’s retaliatory campaign, which Tehran says is aimed at dismantling Israel’s military and intelligence infrastructure.

The confrontation between Israel and Iran escalated dramatically on June 13, when Israel launched a surprise wave of airstrikes on Iranian territory, targeting nuclear and military facilities. That attack killed multiple high-ranking IRGC figures, including Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force.

Iran responded within hours, launching a sustained barrage of ballistic missiles and drones that struck military and civilian sites deep inside Israel. The exchange marked the most direct and intense confrontation between the two countries to date.

Since then, both sides have engaged in military operations, with Israel targeting strategic Iranian infrastructure and leadership, while Iran has expanded its missile campaign and issued repeated warnings to Israel and its allies.

The death of Kazemi, who oversaw the IRGC’s internal intelligence, security operations, and counter-espionage programs, adds to a growing list of top Iranian commanders killed in precision Israeli strikes over the past week. The IRGC has vowed continued retaliation.
