Shafaq News/ Iran's Foreign Ministry has denounced the United States' travel restrictions targeting Iranian nationals, calling them “discriminatory and racist.”

The condemnation follows renewed scrutiny of US visa policies that affect several predominantly Muslim countries, including Iran.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani criticized the measures, stating they reflect a "selective and politically motivated" approach under the guise of security. He emphasized that such policies deepen mistrust and hinder diplomatic engagement.

The travel ban, first implemented under the Trump administration, continues to face criticism from human rights groups and governments. Although the Biden administration revoked certain elements, restrictions remain for Iranian citizens, especially concerning visas for education and family reunification.

Kanaani urged the international community to oppose what he described as "institutionalized Islamophobia" and to hold the US accountable for policies that, he argued, violate human rights and international norms.
