Gaza strike killed Hamas commander

The Israeli army said on Saturday that it killed a Hamas company commander in an airstrike on Deir al-Balah in central Gaza a day earlier.

Palestinian media reported that an Israeli strike on the courtyard of a home in Deir al-Balah killed one person and wounded another. Israeli forces also launched a large demolition operation east of the city.

On Friday, Israel said it had killed Hamas commander Sabahi Sami Mahmoud Shahata in a Gaza airstrike two days earlier, adding to recent operations against Hamas figures. Wednesday’s strikes in Nuseirat and Al-Tuffah followed an attack in Al-Shati that killed four members of the group’s elite force, identified by the army as a company commander and three platoon commanders.
