Egypt, UAE and Jordan send aid convoys to Gaza as famine fears grow

Humanitarian convoys from Egypt, the UAE, and Jordan moved toward Gaza on Sunday as Israel announced limited daily pauses in combat across parts of the strip.
Egypt dispatched dozens of trucks carrying food and essential supplies to the Karam Abu Salem crossing, according to state-run Al Qahera News.

Twenty-five Emirati trucks also crossed through Rafah with water pipes for a 7-kilometer line linking a desalination plant in Egyptian Rafah to displacement zones stretching toward Khan Younis, aiming to provide clean water for 600,000 people, according to Sky News Arabia.
Jordan sent a 60-truck food convoy coordinated with the Jordanian Armed Forces, the World Food Program, and World Central Kitchen, Petra News Agency reported.
This surge in aid follows mounting pressure from international relief agencies warning of a spiraling humanitarian disaster affecting Gaza’s 2.2 million residents.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military declared a halt to operations from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. in Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah, and Gaza City, while opening aid corridors from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. to facilitate the movement of humanitarian convoys.

These developments follow the collapse of ceasefire talks in Doha, with Israel claiming aid levels are adequate and blaming the UN for distribution failures—an accusation UN agencies have rejected, citing access restrictions imposed by Israeli forces.
While Israel dismisses famine reports as “Hamas propaganda,” Gaza’s Health Ministry has recently recorded at least 127 starvation-related deaths, including 85 children, and over 100 humanitarian groups warn famine is already taking hold.

Separately, Israeli naval forces intercepted the Handala aid vessel from Italy off Gaza’s coast, stating it attempted to breach restricted waters and was diverted safely to Israeli shores with all passengers unharmed.
