The Iraqi PM meets Barzani in Erbil
Shafaq News / The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani met with the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, who is visiting the region for the first time since he assumed office last May.
After his meeting with the regional president, Al-Kadhimi will travel to Al-Sulaymaniyah and from there to Halabja.
Al-Kadhimi visited yesterday in Ibrahim Khalil border crossing with Turkey, Duhok, and met officials.
He also visited the Qadia camp for the displaced Yazidis.
The PM’s visit to the Region started in Erbil, where he met the Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani and the head of the regional government, Masrour Barzani.
He discussed several files in Erbil, including the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil, the fight against ISIS remnants, as well as the holding of early parliamentary elections.
It’s noteworthy that, Kurdistan was among the parties that strongly supported Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's to the presidency of the federal government.
His government and the Region have been holding talks for months to resolve the outstanding disputes between Baghdad and Erbil such as the disputed areas and oil revenues.
