“Militias” pose real threat to stability, Kurdistan, Qatar premiers warn

Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani warned that armed factions operating outside state control pose a “real threat” to Iraq and regional stability.

During a phone call on Thursday, both leaders stressed the need for Baghdad to assert authority over "armed militias", condemning attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region and Qatar.
The Qatari premier urged serious attention to these threats, while Barzani reiterated solidarity with Qatar. The two sides agreed to maintain coordination in response to the evolving crisis.
