Shafaq News/ New drone incidents were reported Saturday in Erbil and Basra, as debris from rockets and unmanned aircraft continues to fall across Iraq and the Kurdistan Region amid the ongoing Iran-Israel war.

In Erbil, the capital of the Region, an unmanned aircraft went down over Mount Qarachogh near Makhmour district due to a technical malfunction, a security source confirmed to Shafaq News.

No casualties or damage were immediately reported.

In Basra, southern Iraq, a separate drone incident occurred near the al-Zuwein area in the al-Mustafa sub-district of al-Dair, according to Aqeel al-Furaiji, the Head of the Provincial Security Committee.

Speaking to our agency, al-Furaiji indicated that security forces quickly sealed off the site, starting technical procedures to recover the drone's remnants, which were transferred to specialized teams for further analysis.

Initial investigations are underway to determine the drone’s origin and purpose, and authorities have not yet established whether it was equipped for combat or surveillance.

Similar incidents have also been recorded in Mosul, Kirkuk, Diyala, and al-Anbar over the past week, with drone and missile fragments landing sporadically across various locations. None of those cases resulted in casualties or material damage.
