Al-Kadhimi arrives in Al-Sulaymaniyah
Shafaq News / The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, arrived in Al-Sulaymaniyah Governorate, on Friday, as part of his tour in the Kurdistan Region.
Shafaq News Agency correspondent in Al-Sulaymaniyah said that the PM will meet with the governor, local officials, and also Lahore Sheikh Genki, the co-chair of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.
He added that Al-Kadhimi's visit also includes a meeting with Barham Salih, the Iraqi president, with Kurdish parties, then he heads to Halabja, and then he visits the Bashmakh border crossing.
This is the first visit to Al-Kadhimi as a PM.
In his tour, Al-Kadhimi visited yesterday Ibrahim Khalil border crossing with Turkey, Duhok, and met officials.
He also visited the Qadia camp for the displaced Yazidis.
The PM’s visit to the Region started in Erbil, where he met the head of the regional government, Masrour Barzani, and the Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani and He discussed several files in Erbil, including the disputes between Baghdad and Erbil, the fight against ISIS remnants, as well as the holding of early parliamentary elections.
It’s noteworthy that, Kurdistan was among the parties that strongly supported Mustafa Al-Kadhimi's to the presidency of the federal government.
His government and the Region have been holding talks for months to resolve the outstanding disputes between Baghdad and Erbil such as the disputed areas and oil revenues.
