Popular Crowd in Iraq reveals new details about the strikes in a border camp with Syria
Shafaq News / The Popular Crowd (AL-Hashed al-Shaabe) in Iraq denied on Tuesday that its units were targeted by warplanes or drones near the Iraqi-Syrian border.
"The reports about strikes on AL-Hashed al-Shaabe forces near the Iraqi-Syrian border are inaccurate and absolutely untrue," Qassem Musleh, commander of Anbar's operations in the Popular Crowd told Shafaq News.
Musleh said that "there was an air strike, which took place inside the Syrian territory not Iraq, which is not against the Popular Crowd fighters, but has been on factions that have coordination with the Syrian side not the Iraqi side."
"According to the information available to us, the planes that bombed the factions in Syria came from Ain al-Assad base," said the commander of Anbar's operations in the Popular Crowd Brigade.
Iraq is linked with Syria by three official crossings, with different designations on both sides, al- Qaim from the Iraqi side, which is met by Bu Kamal on the Syrian side, Walid by Iraq , by Al-Tanf on the Syrian side and Rabia crossing on the Iraqi side, which is opposite to Al-Yarubiya in Syria.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that the blasts were caused by blasts from unidentified planes so far.
Iran deploys in Albu Kamal the following: Lebanese Hezbollah, the Iraqi Hezbollah, al- Nujaba, Fatimion and Zeinabion forces, all led by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.
It is noteworthy that "Albu Kamal" is located on the southern bank of the Euphrates River, while the US military and the Syrian Democratic Forces "SDF" are in the east and north of the Euphrates. Albu Kamal is also separated from al-Tanf base at the corner of the Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian border from the east of the Euphrates.
