Iraqi government to open the first university in Sinjar
Shafaq News/ The federal government in Baghdad announced on Thursday its intention to open the first university in Sinjar district, which is predominantly of Yazidis community.
This came in a speech delivered by the Secretary-General of the Iraqi Council of Ministers, Mehdi Al-Alaq, a representative of Prime Minister, Adel Abdul-Mahdi during the commemoration of the third anniversary of the genocide of Yazidis, which was held today in Baghdad.
Al-Alaq said that the government, in cooperation with international organizations has opened 17 mass graves of Yezidis in Sinjar out of 73 graves, stressing that work is continuing with international organizations to open the remaining graves.
He added that the government has approached the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research on the establishment of the first university in Sinjar district, pointing to the opening of a hospital in the mentioned district specialized to address the victims of violence and women freed from the grip of ISIS organization.
