Iraq digs graves for 42 coronavirus victims in one day, highest since its outbreak

Shafaq News / Taher Al-Khakani, commander of the Imam Ali Combat Brigade of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced  burying 42 corpses in a new cemetery ,Iraq’s only graveyard specifically for those who have died of coronavirus (COVID-19) ,including three from the Christian religion just in the last 24 hours .

Al-Khaqani said in a recent interview with Shafaq News Agency that the total number of corpses has reached 376, most of them from the capital, Baghdad, and that they were buried in Wadi al-Salam cemetery in Najaf, the largest in the world, but is expanding.

He added that the members of his Brigade and PMF doctors carried out the burial of this large number of bodies only within (24) hours, stressing that "this outcome is the highest since he assumed this mission after everyone abandoned them."

Iraq is facing a suffocating crisis regarding Covid-19 as the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday that the total confirmed cases have reached 12,366, recoveries mounted to 5186, total infected people in hospitals  6834 , people under intensive care: 69 while deaths were 346
