Shafaq News / An Iranian diplomat revealed on Monday, the return of the Iranian consulate to work in Najaf city, after suspending its activities as a result of being attacked by Iraqi protesters for three times in protest of what they considered as the Iranian interference in the affairs of their country.

The Iranian Consul in Najaf, Hamid Makarim said in statements carried by the official Iranian news agency, "IRNA", "today, we celebrate the forty-first anniversary of the Iranian revolution events as the Iranian consulate in Najaf will resume after a two-month hiatus."

He added that "the Iranian consulate in Najaf is working to resume citizens' services, including issuing visas and documenting travel documents as well as consular affairs in the coming weeks."

It should be noted that Iraqi demonstrators stormed the Iranian consulate in Najaf city last November and December and set it on fire.

The protesters in Iraq accuse Iran of interfering in the country's internal affairs.
