Biden confirms importance of a new parliament to deal with Iraqi challenges

According to a statement issued by the White House , seen by " Shafaq News " ,” Biden stressed the importance of having a new parliament that works on controlling the country in light of many challenges facing Iraq . He pointed out that the phone call addressed the security situation in Anbar province”.

The statement said that U.S. Vice-President stressed the importance of a comprehensive approach that includes political communication , as well as security measures aimed at winning the support and cooperation of citizens.

The statement added that Biden welcomed the mobilization of the population against the current organization of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant ( Daash ) and urged the Iraqi Government to ensure that the difficult war against terrorism to be carried out in a manner that take into account the protection of the civilian population and committed to the rule of law .

The statement added that Biden and Maliki reaffirmed the long-term partnership between Iraq and the United States , according to the strategic framework agreement , including their commitment to coordination in fight against Daash , which pose a threat to the entire region.
