The Iraqi Parliament to hold its session next Saturday
Shafaq News / Parliament Speaker, Muhammad al-Halbousi announced on Tuesday that next Saturday's session will be devoted to the completion of the vote upon the election law.
During the parliament session today, Tuesday, Al-Halbousi said, "It has become imperative to establish the electoral districts to implement a just and fair law to conduct early elections that meet the aspirations of the people and express their will", calling on the political forces to attend the session.
It is noteworthy that the delay in voting on the election law revolves on the issue of electoral districts, as each block wants the electoral district according to its own agenda. Some political blocs want Iraq to be a single electoral district, others want districts at the governorate level and others want electoral districts at the district level. As for the popular demands that emerged from the protests, they were calling for individual districts and individual candidacy, which would be closer to reality, bring change and get rid of the power of the parties, according to their opinion.
