Shafaq News / The Islamic Resistance in Iraq announced on Friday that it had carried out a drone strike on a target in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, marking the group's third such attack.

In a statement, the group declared that the attack was in retaliation for what it called "massacres" committed by Israel against civilians, including women, children, and the elderly, in Palestine and Lebanon. "In continuation of our resistance against the occupation, and in support of our people in Palestine and Lebanon, our fighters launched a drone strike at dawn on Friday, September 27, 2024, on a target in the occupied Golan," the statement read.

The group affirmed that its operations against Israeli positions would continue, with "escalating intensity."

According to statistics from the Israeli research center Alma, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq carried out 167 attacks on Israel between November 2023 and September 25.

A report by The Jerusalem Post revealed that IRI has intensified its attacks on Israeli territory in recent days, with September marking a peak in the number of interception operations conducted by the Israeli army.

The report, citing the Alma Center, indicated that the Israeli army successfully intercepted "only 41 out of the 167 attacks, representing approximately 24% of the total."

The center’s data also showed that some interceptions took place in Israeli airspace, though the attacks have resulted in minimal injuries.

The Iraqi resistance attacks come amid a broader regional escalation, with the pro-Iran Axis of Resistance, including Hezbollah, and Ansarallah intensifying their strikes against Israeli targets in response to ongoing Israeli military actions in Gaza and Lebanon.
