MPs sign to re-vote on the elections law

Shafaq News / Sairoon Alliance revealed on Thursday that MPs of various political blocs have collected signatures to re-vote on articles in the new election law.

MP of the coalition, Riad Al-Masoudi, told Shafaq News agency, "The differences on the election law are political, not legal or technical as some political parties claim", stressing that, "disputing over the law does not serve the interest of the process nor the interest of the Iraqi street. It obstructs the electoral process in Iraq".

The Legal Committee in the Iraqi Parliament set today, Thursday, the deadline for the political blocs to submit their proposals to the committee.

Additionally, The Speaker of the Parliament, Muhammad Al-Halbousi, said that the multiple electoral districts law will be approved, noting that it needs political consensus.
