Shafaq News/ On Monday, the Iraqi Parliament completed the first reading of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) Service and Retirement Law draft.

In addition to the PMF Law draft, the Parliament also completed the first reading of the draft Passport Law No. 32 of 2015, according to a statement from the Parliament's media office.

The Iraqi Parliament held its session earlier today, chaired by Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, with 170 MPs in attendance, following a break of more than a month.

A few days ago, political positions varied regarding the inclusion of the PMF Law in the parliamentary session agenda. The Parliament made several unsuccessful attempts to reach a consensus on the law, particularly since it calls for the retirement of more than 3,500 PMF leaders, including the head of the PMF Authority, Faleh al-Fayyad, who has surpassed the legal retirement age.
