Investors occupy locations without executing residential compounds, MP says

Shafaq News/ A member of the Parliamentary Committee for Services and Reconstruction pilloried the "occupation" of locations in Baghdad and other governorates by investors executing residential compounds.

Committee Member, MP Abbas al-Atafi, told Shafaq News Agency, "since commencing the construction of these compounds, they have proven no economic feasibility and have not solved the residential crisis. The middle-income Iraqi citizen cannot buy a residential unit in those compounds."

"Some compounds are yet to be completed. Therefore, it did not solve, even slightly, the residential crisis. The crisis will exacerbate day after day."

"Many privileged locations in Baghdad and other governorates are occupied by investors without implementing residential compounds. In addition, they manipulate the prices of the residential unit in the absence of any role of the Commission of Investment."
