Shafaq News/ Iraqi security forces have arrested several Syrian nationals in recent days for allegedly promoting extremist organizations on social media, a security source revealed on Tuesday.

“Three Syrians were detained in Baghdad’s Zayouna area after being linked to posts glorifying terrorist groups, including Jabhat al-Nusra, and sharing videos depicting mass killings in Syria,” the source told Shafaq News agency, adding that another Syrian national, identified as F.A., was arrested earlier in the Al-Husseiniya area, northeast of the capital, for similar activities.

In the Shaab area, north of Baghdad, security forces also detained a man identified as A.A. for allegedly praising terrorist groups online.

Authorities have intensified efforts to monitor social media accounts promoting terrorism and have instructed security agencies to review the records of all Syrians in Iraq, particularly those violating residency regulations.

On Sunday, security forces arrested another Syrian national in the ‘Umm Al-Kubar and Al-Ghazlan’ district, east of Baghdad, for allegedly sharing extremist content online.
