The head of the Patriotic Shiite Movement (PSM), Muqtada al-Sadr, on Monday called for nationwide peaceful rallies after Friday prayers in support of Iraq's “heroic” anti-corruption campaign.
In a statement, he urged demonstrators to raise only Iraqi flags alongside banners depicting Imam Hussein bin Ali, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad and a revered figure in Shia Islam, as symbols of revolution against corruption.

Earlier, Al-Sadr expressed support for the campaign, urging Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to continue pursuing corruption cases regardless of the suspects' political affiliation.
Iraqi authorities launched one of the country's largest anti-corruption operations in years, arresting more than 65 suspects, including politicians, lawmakers, and businessmen accused of corruption-related offenses.
