UAE interested in energy projects in Iraq
, pointed out that the United Arab Emirates pay particular attention to investment in the energy sector in Iraq in the oil and gas field as well as electric power generation .
The conference of energy projects in Iraq is being held under the auspices of the Emirates Foundation MEED and the presence of a number of Iraqi and Emiratis officials as well as representatives of international companies , experts and businessmen in Dubai for a period of from 25 to 27 of current February .
The Minister of energy of UAE , Sohail Mohammed bin Faraj Al -Mazrui said in his opening speech to the energy projects conference in Iraq , which began in Dubai , followed by " Shafaq News " , that "we are interested in the power projects in Iraq as the energy sector in the region and the world is important for the fact that Iraq is one of the most important oil exporters Arab countries in the world and has vast natural resources , it is expected to rise in global demand for crude oil from 89 million to 104 million barrels per day in 2030 ."
For his part, Chairman of the advisers Committee to Prime Minister of Iraq, Thamer Gatheban said that "the size of the financing energy projects in Iraq till 2020 is more than 20 billion dollars , to raise daily production to 9 million barrels ," pointing to "the existence of a plan to add three refineries by energy of 1.5 million barrels . "
He pointed to "the existence of several projects and development processes for the existing refineries ," adding " terrorist operations are still the most important challenge facing the growth of Iraqi oil production ."
He explained that " we have in this regard North pipeline project , which reach a capacity of 2.5 million barrels per day , in addition to a pipeline project to transport natural gas to Jordan ," noting that "Iraq in 2013 paid about $ 17.5 billion for international oil companies , and expected to repay 12.5 billion dollars this year, and that there are great prospects for joint action with the United Arab Emirates in the oil and energyfield ".
