Turkey continues its trade with Iraq through an outlet without contact

Shafaq News / Turkey continues its trade with Iraq through "Khabour" crossing, without contact between people to combat the new Corona virus outbreak.

To prevent the spread of Corona, Khabour border crossing was closed to travelers in early March, while the Turkish Ministry of Trade took measures to continue trade through the crossing.

Among the measures, Turkish Trade Minister Rohsar Bakjan recently announced the continuation of trade with Iraq at "Khabour Crossing", where the trailers are exchanged between the drivers of the two countries without contact, in the buffer zone between Khabour Crossing on the Turkish side and Ibrahim al-Khalil on the Iraqi side.

Currently, "Khabour" crossing, located in Sloubi district in the Turkish state of Sirnak, is witnessing the exit of 1100 trucks loaded with products and goods, and the entry of 850 trucks daily, in the framework of continuing trade between the two sides without contact.

Trucks from Iraq are being sterilized in the buffer zone, while Turkish drivers from the crossing are subjected to quarantine in a field hospital for 24 hours.

In a statement to Anatolia (AA news agency), the representative of the International Transport Association in Slopi, Murat Tatar, said "We support these measures in order to continue our exports and the flow of our trade. Khabour also like all border crossings, is closed to passengers and is open to trucks only."

The driver, Hassan Yabla welcomed the continuation of trade without contact between people. He said "We are passing without contact, so we do not worry about our health."

As of Saturday morning, the number of coronas infected worldwide exceeded 600,000, of whom more than 27,000 died, while more than 133,000 recovered from the disease.
