Minister of Electricity: Citizens will enjoy 24 hours of electricity in summer of 2014
Jumaili said in a statement received by “Shafaq News” during a meeting with Governor of Samawah, Ibrahim al-Mayali in the ministry's headquarters in Baghdad that " citizens will enjoy (24) hours of electricity in summer of 2014 in Samawah province and other provinces “.
“Samawah new gas project has been developed from building four gas units with capacity of 500 MW to building six generative units by a capacity of 750 MW “.
“The Minister of Electricity instructed the Directorate General for gas production projects to call the nominated good companies to implement this project, and shorten their procedures “.
Aftan, governor of Samawah called in the presence of “distribution and transport managers in Samawah province to provide the needs of his province to ensure processing it with 24 hour electricity in summer of 2014, by providing the requirements of transmission and distribution success, in coordination with the Departments of distribution and power transmission at the headquarters of the ministry”.
Iraq has suffered since the beginning of 1990 from a shortage of electricity, as electricity rationing hours have increased after 2003 in Baghdad and the provinces, because a lot of stations were sabotaged over the past years.
